When the time comes to say goodbye, simplicity becomes a refuge. This package was built for families who want to accompany their loved one with respect, without complexity and without pressure.

What we remove is the hours of funeral-home time, not the gestures that matter. Your loved one is taken into our care at any hour, prepared and placed in the casket; the casket is driven to the cemetery; the equipment needed for the interment is supplied; and you gather for thirty minutes at the graveside.

The only one of our packages with no limit on numbers

The Simple Tribute and Peaceful Burial packages gather in a room, capped at ten people or bounded by a hall to fill. A cemetery is an open place: at the graveside, no one has to count seats.

So tell more people than you think necessary. The reproach we hear months later is almost never "there were too many people": it is "so-and-so never knew, and would have wanted to".

This package does not include embalming or cosmetic care, which are what make a viewing possible. If you want to see your loved one one last time, the Simple Tribute package is the one to look at — and it is better decided now than afterwards. Identification by photograph is offered at no charge, remotely and on request, in every one of our packages.

The casket decides the price

Our professional services are fixed, at $2,965. The casket runs from $1,490 for the simplest model to $18,495 for the most elaborate, and it is what accounts for the whole spread of the range shown. Twenty-three models are offered in the drop-down list.

One piece of advice we give every family: look at the bottom of the range first, and move up if you want to — never the other way round. No one chooses well starting from the top: guilt does the rest of the work, and nobody in the room will talk you out of it.

A casket at $18,495 does not honour a life better than a casket at $1,490. It is more beautiful, it costs $17,005 more, and it will be laid in the ground on the same day. If that sum would change anything in the lives of those left behind, that is not where it should go.

The sixteen formalities included, at no extra charge

This is the part of the work everyone underestimates, and the part that exhausts families who take it on alone. It is included in the price shown, on the same footing as the transport or the casket.

What the death benefit covers, and what it does not

At the entry level, this package comes to $5,122.14 with taxes. The Quebec Pension Plan death benefit is a maximum of $2,500: it covers part of it, never the whole, and its share shrinks as the casket goes up.

It is also never automatic. It requires that the person who died contributed enough to the Plan, and it is taxable in the income of the estate. We apply for it on your behalf, at no charge, and we send you the official receipt for funeral expenses paid — the one that gives priority, for sixty days, to whoever paid the funeral costs.

What is added to the price shown

Applicable taxes. The plot or concession and the cemetery fees, including opening and closing the grave. The monument and commemorative objects. The cost of a gathering venue if a ceremony is held somewhere other than with us. The fees of the Registrar of Civil Status, which we request for you.

The cemetery sets its own rates, and two neighbouring cemeteries can differ by a factor of two. We cannot quote them to you, but we can tell you what to ask and in what order, so that you do not discover a line of expense the day before.

How the purchase works

1. You choose here. The package, then the casket in the drop-down list, then whatever enhancements you need. The price updates as you go: you see the total before you commit, not after.

2. You receive your access. An email opens the secure client portal. You fill in the forms from home, at your own pace, with no travel and no appointment imposed on you.

3. We take over. Care of the decedent at any hour, government formalities, coordination with the cemetery. You follow the file's progress in real time from your dashboard.

Payment is made in a single instalment. We do not offer financing: our prices are low precisely because we carry no credit costs, and credit is a bank's business, not ours. Be wary of offers at "$80 a month for five years" — do the multiplication before you sign.

Taking the decedent into our care is included within a 50 km radius of Montreal. Beyond that, travel fees are added and are quoted to you before signing, never after.
